Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith Part 3 Quest Details

As always with the Gunsmith quests in Escape From Tarkov, Gunsmith part 3 requires you to build an MP5 within specific parameters, and hand it over to Mechanic.

The specifications required for the MP5 are as follows:

  • 50-round extended magazine
  • Silencer
  • Tactical flashlight
  • Sighting range >200
  • Ergonomics above 45
  • Recoil sum less than 200
  • Maximum weight 4kg

While these specifications don't seem too complicated if considering them at face value, there are a couple of things that can make achieving them quite difficult to the unaware.

Once you've managed to build the MP5 and complete the Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith part 3 quest, you will be entitled to the following rewards:

  • 500 Euros
  • 5,900 XP
  • An increase of 0.03 to your Mechanic rep
  • 1x PP-19-01 "Vityaz" 9x19 submachine gun

The obvious other benefit of completing the Gunsmith tasks is that you'll be able to continue in the questline almost immediately, making it a great route if you desperately need extra experience or Mechanic rep.

Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith Part 3: How To Complete

In order to complete the Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith part 3 quest, you can take one of two routes, depending on what items you currently have access to. As a side note, it is very much recommended that you at least have the Escape From Tarkov flea market unlocked, but also loyalty level two for Peacekeeper, as it is highly unlikely that you will find all of the items needed in raid before this point.

If you are able to purchase the MP5-SD variant directly from Peacekeeper LL2 (which requires you to complete the Scrap Metal quest), then it is a much simpler process. However, if you're stuck with just the standard MP5 from Peacekeeper (LL1 barter/LL2 purchase) then it can be a bit more complicated.

This is mainly due to the fact that the native MP5 upper-receiver does not take a suppressor at all, so you can very easily be left confused wondering how on earth you manage to get one on. All you need to do is switch over to the SD upper-receiver and you will be all good to go though.

Here's a shopping list for the Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith part 3 quest, working from both the standard and SD variants of the MP5:

  • MK MP5SD 9x19 upper receiver (Peacekeeper LL2) - For standard MP5
  • HK MP5SD polymer handguard (Peacekeeper LL2) - For standard MP5
  • HK MP5SD 9x19 sound suppressor (Peacekeeper LL2) - For standard MP5
  • MK MP5SD B&T tri-rail ring mount
  • NcSTAR Tactical blue laser LAM-module
  • MK MP5 9x19 X Products X-5 50-round drum magazine

The best way to get your hands on the 50-round magazine is through the fuel conditioner barter from either Mechanic LL1 or Peacekeeper LL2, as it can get very pricey on the flea market otherwise.

Furthermore, despite Mechanic specifically asking for a tactical flashlight to be attached to the weapon, he will accept the NcSTAR which is exclusively a laser, meaning that you can save a bit of money there.

If converting from the standard MP5, the best way to go about doing this is to head to the 'Edit Preset' option, and build it up by first putting in the upper-receiver. This is much easier than trying to take apart the weapon in your stash, as you might accidentally remove a vital part if you're not careful.

So, that's how to complete the Escape From Tarkov Gunsmith part 3 quest from Mechanic, letting you know all the parts you'll need to get the gun up to shape. If you're needing some more help with other Mechanic quests, why not check out our Escape From Tarkov Corporate Secrets quest guide.
