Now that the Chiefs are headed to Las Vegas to face off against the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, there’s one topic hotter than what commercials will air, whether Usher will reveal a celebrity guest during his halftime show or even who will win: Taylor Swift. Not whether she’ll be there—pundits have done the math on her flight from Tokyo to Nevada, proving it’s possible—but what she’ll wear, what her body language will reveal, whether she’ll eat chicken tenders with “seemingly ranch” and how many times cameras will flash to her as announcers fight to shoehorn her name into every play for the sake of ratings, glorious ratings. And that’s barely scraping the surface of our collective obsession with the pop singer’s every move.

So, while some may groan at her (unintentional) dominance over game day, we say: Why not lean into it? Whether you’re a Swiftie who’s only interested in more sightings of your fave star or a diehard football fan with an unfettered love of “You Belong with Me,” you’ve got to admit that Swift watch can add a layer of fun—and freshness—to what could otherwise feel like the 2020 Super Bowl all over again. (And honestly, who wants to relive any part of 2020?) Here’s how to host a Taylor Swift-themed Super Bowl party, no matter who you’re rooting for.

1. Map Out Your Super Bowl Menu

You’ve got to represent the Chiefs and 49ers here, which means barbecue and Cali-style tacos are a must. (And if you want more ideas, we have full recipe roundups for Chiefs and 49ers fans alike, so feel free to peruse and mix and match.)

For the Taylor element, you’ll absolutely need chicken tenders with ketchup and “seemingly ranch,” along with her viral chai eggnog cookies for dessert, but honestly, we advocate for anything with a killer pun, like…

  • Shawarma Is My Boyfriend
  • You Belong with Me(atballs)
  • Anti-Heroes
  • Loaded Taylor Totchos
  • (Milk)shake It Off
  • I Knew You Were Truffles
  • Donut Blame Me Bites
  • Wildest Dreamsicles

2. Round Things Out with a Signature Drink

Swift has said a Diet Coke and vodka is her preferred drink in the past, though the Lavender Haze was a hit during the Eras tour and the Washington Post recently reported her favorite cocktail du jour is a French Blonde, which calls for gin, grapefruit juice, Lillet (a French aperitif) and St-Germain liqueur.

For the sake of simplicity, we suggest going with a big-batch cocktail you can serve in a pitcher, so you’re not playing bartender all night. (If you go the Lavender Haze route, for example, keep a pitcher of lemonade sweetened with lavender honey on hand, then let people pour their own drinks and add a floater of Empress 1908 gin on top for the purple ombre effect.)

Even simpler, toss a bunch of Diet Cokes (and other drinks) in an inflatable stadium cooler alongside a bottle of vodka and let people pour their own libations.

3. Paint the Watch Party Red

If you’re looking for a color scheme for your party, go with red (and accents of gold, white and black). It’s the main color for both teams, and it just so happens to be the title of Swift’s 2012—and 2021—albums. That can be as simple as tossing a red tablecloth over your coffee table and hanging up some streamers, though if you really want to go all out, you can layer in a football balloon arch and some mirror balls (to “make the whole place shimmer,” of course). Or even blow up some of these 43-inch-tall “Taylor” balloons.

Then, as a finishing touch, check out this supersized friendship bracelet garland tutorial that bloggers Mallory Lee Richardson and Kristin Nicole Miller shared on Instagram. Name a better Instagram backdrop. We'll wait.

4. Hand Out Friendship Bracelets as Favors

You may not have the budget to spring for a diamond tennis bracelet a la Mr. Kelce, but Amazon has some affordable bracelet bundles for Swift, 49ers and Chiefs fans alike. And, thanks to Prime, they can arrive at your door in no time.

(Psst: As another fun twist, you can skip the bracelets entirely and hand out temporary tattoos. Inkbox has some great options that feel aligned with the Swift Lyrical Universe, like these anti-hero, invisible string and lover designs.)

5. Play Taylor Swift-Inspired Super Bowl Bingo

Fact: Watch parties are more fun when there’s a game involved. That’s why we dreamed up Super Bowl Bingo, PureWow’s Version. It’s a mix of football and pop culture references, so you can bring everyone together in the search for ads involving puppies, fumbles and announcers who can’t help but drop lyrics into their every anecdote. Just print the images below, divide your crew into four teams and get ready for kickoff.
