I can remember having fruit salad fluff in many different ways. Without the jello so it was just plain whipped topping. Also with strawberries, apples, and nuts added into it.
Sometimes she even added canned pineapple into this strawberry jello fruit salad. I think that is why I enjoy this recipe is because it can be easily changed to our liking.
You can use either frozen whipped topping or make your own homemade whipped topping. Then mix in the jello and the fruit of your choice for a delicious jello salad recipe.
Another way to change up this easy jello dessert is with the jello itself. Not a fan of strawberry jello then you can use a blackberry or your favorite jello flavor.

I placed my bowl in the freezer for about 10 minutes while I prepped all my other ingredients.
The base of this recipe always started with cool whip. Whether you make the cool whip from scratch or do a little cheat like I did and use store-bought cool whip. If using store-bought just make sure to have it thawed out.

When you add the jello to the cool whip make sure to mix the jello really well to dissolve the jello into the cool whip. I used strawberry jello but you could use whatever flavor you have on hand.
Fruit Salad
To make this strawberry cool whip a fruit salad you need to add fruit. The fruit in the refrigerator was running low so I grab out of my pantry.
I added a can of fruit co*cktail and mandarin oranges that I drained the juices off of. I was also eyeing up crushed pineapple but opted not to this time.

When adding everything into the strawberry cool whip I folded the fruits into the cool whip. Be careful not to over mix so the cool whip wouldn't break down.
Once I had everything mixed together I placed the fluff salad into the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes to set up a little.
We had this as a snack but this simple recipe can be served as a dessert or as a side dish.
